Both Mark A. Satawa and Lisa B. Kirsch  Satawa are former prosecutors, and Mark A. Satawa is a former assistant Attorney General as well. We have tried hundreds of cases, and have a very high level of experience with every imaginable type of criminal court proceeding. We are on the Board of Directors for the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan ("CDAM"), and Mark A. Satawa is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. We have both lectured state and nationwide on trial advocacy and defending allegations of child abuse and sexual assault, and have been members of the teaching faculty at the CDAM/Thomas Cooley Law School Criminal Trial College. We strive to be, and have reputations as being, "a lawyer's lawyer."

As a result, the majority of our clients come to us as referrals from other lawyers. Our criminal practice is dedicated to the full spectrum of criminal defense matters involving adults and juveniles in state and federal court. Areas of expertise include major drug offenses, fraud, RICO, white-collar crimes, and Federal practice. However, our "true" specialty is in defending the toughest allegations of sexual assault, sexual abuse of children, child abuse, and medically and scientifically intensive allegations such as Munchausen by proxy, brittle bone disease, CVID, shaken baby syndrome, and DNA evidence.

In addition, our Child Protective Services (DHS) practice is committed to defending juvenile court and termination of parental rights cases because of abuse or neglect, preserving families, and protecting a parent's fundamental right to parent. The family law practice focuses on high conflict family disputes involving the most complex allegations of abuse, neglect, and domestic violence.
